Teeth Whitening
Tooth whitening is a procedure which allows you to gently and safely lighten your teeth to improve your smile, removing tooth discolouration. At Oaklands we provide ‘home teeth whitening’ in Preston, which gives safe, long lasting results.
Enquire NowNot many people know that it is illegal for anyone other than a dentist (or member of their team) to perform teeth whitening. Beauticians, hairdressers and salon staff are not trained to perform tooth whitening and could permanently damage your teeth or gums.
An appointment will be arranged with one of our dentists, who will be able to evaluate your teeth and let you know what results you can expect from whitening your teeth. Teeth whitening will only change the colour of natural teeth, and not crowns, veneers or fillings. If you have existing dental work, your dentist will let you know what can be done to improve the overall appearance of your smile.
Following your assessment, the dentist will take impressions (moulds) of your teeth, which will be sent to the dental laboratory. They will manufacture bespoke whitening trays, which will fit precisely over your teeth. You will then attend the practice so that your dentist can talk you through the process and get you started with the treatment. The trays will then need to be worn for approximately 10-14 nights with whitening gel inside them in order to gradually whiten your teeth and give you the whiter smile you desire.
Our price for our home tooth whitening kits is £350.
One of the biggest advantages of home tooth whitening is that you have control over the colour change that you experience. Your teeth will whiten gradually as you undergo treatment so you have the option of stopping whitening when you are happy with your result, or carrying on for longer if you wish to go whiter.
Yes, once you have the bespoke tooth whitening trays, you can re-whiten your teeth whenever you wish, although this should not be necessary very often. Most patients normally have an evening or two of whitening once or twice a year to ‘refresh’ the results. We can provide extra whitening gel if and when you require it.
Yes! The dentist will only use whitening gels, which are known to be safe. These gels have been tried and tested and will not harm your teeth or gums
